Een
optreden van het in 2007 opgerichte Twitching Eye Trio is
een feest voor het oog en een belevenis voor het oor. Met
groot gevoel voor detail combineren de percussionisten Achim
Heine, Jasper Goedman en Marijn Korff de Gidts hun kennis
van eigentijdse muziek met de ritmiek en klankkleuren van
Afrikaanse, Turkse, Indiase en Afro-Cubaanse origine. Dit
resulteert in een heel eigen muziekwereld waarin abstracte
structuren en warmbloedige dansritmes elkaar de hand reiken
en beïnvloeden.
Met hun in elkaar hakende ritmepatronen plaveit het trio
een weg die door de meest uiteenlopende klankschappen voert,
van verstild tot pulserend, van complex tot transparant.
Voorlopig zijn ze nog niet uitgespeeld, want de drie hebben
rijke muzikale ervaring om in volgende producties met elkaar
te delen.

performance by Twitching Eye Trio, founded in 2007, is
a feast for the eyes and an experience for the ears. With
the utmost sensitivity to detail, the percussionists Achim
Heine, Jasper Goedman and Marijn Korff de Gidts combine
their knowledge of contemporary music with rhythms and
sounds from African, Turkisch, Indian and Afro-Cuban origins.
The result is an entirely individual musical world in
which abstract structures and warm-blooded dance rhythms
reach out to and influence each other.
With interwoven rhythmic patterns, the trio paves a path
to the most divergent sound qualities, from muted to pulsating,
complex to transparent. And there’s no end in sight,
for the trio have sufficient rich musical experiences
to share with one another for later productions.
